Description
Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 1.5x S35 (Blue) Canon RF
The Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 1.5x S35 lens (Blue) (Canon RF) is a compact cinema lens with Hollywood potential and blue flares!
Why anamorphic? Big-budget Hollywood productions use anamorphic lenses to achieve the cinematic widescreen perspective. On a 16:9 sensor, you get an aspect ratio of 2.4:1. Instead of cropping the image at the top and bottom (resolution loss), anamorphic lenses distort the image towards the edge. On subsequent viewing or projection, a corresponding equalisation takes place again. Lens properties such as oval bokeh, horizontal flare and shallower depth of field are considered highly aesthetic by many filmmakers and are becoming increasingly popular.
The Laowa Nanomorph lenses are the smallest anamorphic lenses for S35 cameras with a constant compression factor of 1.5 at ALL focus points. The "Nano" stands for the extremely small and lightweight lenses - the "Morph" stands for anamorphic.
Anamorphic lenses consist of spherical elements and cylindrical elements. Professional anamorphic lenses usually require more effort in designing the optics. This involves high costs and the format of these lenses is usually cumbersome and also super-heavy. This is why Laowa developed its unique patented anamorphic design. It guarantees consistent optical quality and always the same compression factor.
This makes working with a handheld camera, on, for example, a gimbal, a tripod, a slider or camera boom, much easier. The nanomorph lenses are even very suitable for drones. The special optical structure consists of 15 elements in 13 groups. Together with the 13 aperture blades, beautiful oval bokeh and a cinematic image look are guaranteed.
The minimum distance has been further shortened compared to similar lenses, allowing even more impressive close-ups. It is practical and easy for the cinematographer to use 62 mm screw-in filters directly on the filter thread. On all Nanomorph Cine lenses, the continuously variable aperture and focus rings are equipped with standardised Module 0.8 tooth rings.
