The Pentax 17 pays tribute to the world of photography. It is an analogue camera with film rolls and is ideal for photographers who want to express their originality and creativity or for those who want to explore the world of analogue.

The Pentax 17 has a 'half-format image'. This means that two 17mm x 24mm photos are captured in one whole 35mm format image. You have a wide choice of ISO values (from 50 to 3200). The Pentax 17 features a lens with a fixed focal length of 25mm and aperture of f/3.5. This lens has a High Definition coating to optimise the brightness and sharpness of your photos.

The camera has a built-in zone focusing system that lets you easily adjust the focus area by selecting six zone markers. All you need to do to adjust your camera's focus is to select the mark that is most appropriate for the distance to your subject. In the macro zone, you can shoot close-ups from about 25 centimetres away.

The Pentax 17 has a bright optical viewfinder with a field-of-view compensation frame. Through the viewfinder, you can easily compose close-up images. It is also possible to check the zone markings.

The camera features seven different shooting modes suitable in different situations. You can choose from shooting modes including: 'Full Auto Stand', which adjusts the exposure selected by the camera; 'Slow-speed sync', which is helpful when shooting at dusk and 'Bulb' when you want to capture night and fireworks. If you are going to shoot in 'Bulb mode', you can choose to use the optional CS-205 cable switch. You can also adjust exposure yourself using the exposure compensation dial for when you want to get creative with exposure yourself.

The Pentax 17 has a high-quality magnesium alloy body. It has a classic subject reminiscent of the traditional look of film cameras. The camera has a 40.5mm thread on which you can attach various filters. On the back cover of the camera is a note holder, in which you can put the film packaging. That way you know which roll is currently being used.
